The Security Roll Container isn’t just a cart with a door—it’s a structure designed so that every attempted theft leaves a permanent, documentable trace. In this article, we take an in-depth look at how it really works: from the lattice design that allows it to support 600 kg with a structure weighing just 51 kg, to the three-point locking mechanism that turns any forced entry into proof for insurance purposes.
Roll Container for the Secure Transport of Valuable Goods – Directly Manufactured Since 1981
Safety roll containers are industrial trucks designed for the internal handling, shipping and storage of high commercial value products. The Safety Series is equipped with a 5 cm thick mesh metal grid, reinforced top cover and lockable door. When properly closed, the container guarantees a high level of protection that allows to safely transport the most valuable goods, preventing in fact the occasional shoplifting actions, hindering access to “professionals”, and making the attempted theft evident.

How to Choose a Safety Roll Container: A Configuration Guide
Base Size
The security Roll Container is available in two sizes: Standard (72×80 cm) and MAXI (120×80 cm). The Standard size loads easily onto standard European vans and pallet jacks; the MAXI size doubles the internal volume and is ideal for semi-trucks and warehouses with wide shelving. The choice depends mainly on your usual mode of transport and the available storage space—not on the quantity of goods, which can be adjusted using the shelves.
Height
Three options: 101, 150, and 184 cm. The 101-cm version is the most commonly used in the pharmaceutical sector and in environments with height restrictions (mezzanines, service elevators). The 150 cm version is the standard size for vans. The 184 cm version maximizes volume for transport on semi-trucks and warehouse storage. Always check the usable height of the vehicle’s cargo area before making your selection.
Version: standard or interlocking
The standard version can be disassembled without tools in just a few minutes: a fully assembled cart can hold up to five disassembled units, optimizing empty return trips. The nestable (stackable) version fits directly inside the other without disassembly, and includes a fold-down shelf at mid-height. The nestable version is preferable in high-frequency distribution networks where empty space must be managed quickly; the standard version is more flexible for mixed-use applications and custom configurations.
Internal shelves
The shelves are spaced 5 cm apart along the entire height—a direct benefit of the 50×50 mm fine mesh, which serves as a guide. Each shelf has a load capacity of 154 kg. The number of shelves should be chosen based on the size of the items being stored—for small parts or low-profile packages, more closely spaced levels are needed; for taller parcels, one or two are sufficient. The configuration can be modified over time without any structural changes.
Closure and padlock
The locking mechanism operates on three points: a central handle anchored to the frame, and rotating rods on the lid and base. This system seals the container on all sides and makes any forced entry permanent and visible, eliminating the possibility of silent access—a feature that is important both operationally and for insurance purposes. The padlock is not included by default and must be selected separately based on the required security level. For tracking individual shipments, single-use seals can be used instead of or in addition to the padlock.
Wheels
The wheels determine the truck's actual load capacity, not its frame. Four kits are available:
- Standard (polypropylene, Ø100 or 125 mm): general-purpose use on industrial floors. Load capacity: 400 kg.
- Quiet (rubber, Ø100 or 125 mm): for healthcare facilities, hospitality establishments, and locations where noise is a concern. Load capacity: 400 kg.
- Intensive (nylon, Ø100 or 125 mm): for heavy-duty use and travel on uneven or outdoor surfaces. Load capacity: 400 kg.
- Strong (nylon-polyurethane, Ø100 or 125 mm): for heavy loads and long distances. Load capacity: 600 kg (720 kg on the MAXI).
The standard configuration is 2 fixed wheels + 2 swivel wheels: the fixed wheels maintain the path, while the swivel wheels make turning easier. In tight spaces, you can opt for 4 swivel wheels. It is recommended to apply the brake on the swivel casters whenever the cart is loaded or unloaded while stationary.
Galvanizing
The standard finish is light blue electrolytic galvanizing, which is sufficient for normal industrial environments. For environments with high humidity, chemicals, aggressive dust, or outdoor use, the high-resistance Cromo3 (Cr3) version is available. The zinc coating also protects the mesh’s weld points, which are most exposed to corrosion.
Identification of the forklift fleet
In settings with large fleets or multi-site operations, you can request metal plates stamped with a company code or serial number, as well as document holders that can be attached to the exterior. This is useful for managing returns and assigning responsibility in the event of missing items or damage.
FAQ
Is the padlock included?
No. The security roll is designed to accommodate a padlock (with a reinforced slot on the door), but the padlock is not included by default. It must be selected and purchased separately—the recommended minimum shackle diameter is 20 mm. As an alternative to reusable padlocks, numbered single-use seals are used for shipments, which help verify the integrity of the shipment upon delivery.
What is the difference between a security Roll Container and a standard Roll Container?
The standard Roll Container has an open rectangular mesh (approximately 105×380 mm) and no provision for a padlock. The security Roll Container has a tight square mesh (50×50 mm) on all sides, including the lid, a three-point locking mechanism, and a padlockable door. The tight mesh physically prevents hands from being inserted and makes it impossible to remove small objects without opening the door. If forced open, it leaves a visible, permanent deformation.
What is the difference between the standard version and the interpenetrable version?
The standard version can be disassembled without tools: the sides and base separate, and a single assembled cart can hold up to five disassembled units. The nestable (stackable) version is designed to reduce the space taken up by empty units, so it does not disassemble: empty carts nest inside one another like shopping carts, reducing their volume in just a few seconds. The nestable version includes a fold-down shelf at mid-height. The choice depends on the frequency of the cycle: a high return rate suggests the nestable version; mixed uses or variable configurations suggest the standard version.
In which industries is it primarily used?
Pharmaceutical (height 101 cm, quiet wheels for hospital environments), large-scale retail for high-value-per-unit products (cosmetics, perfumes, electronics), logistics and express couriers for trackable shipments, manufacturing for high-value components. In all contexts where small, high-value goods pass through multiple hands before reaching their destination.
How do you document an attempted theft or tampering?
Forcing the three-point lock to close causes permanent and visible deformation on the rods or the door—it is irreversible and cannot be concealed. This makes the attempt photographically documentable and usable for insurance purposes or to assign liability within the supply chain. For even greater traceability, numbered single-use seals can be added to the door.
Can I add shelves after I buy it?
Yes. The shelves are standalone accessories; they clip onto the frame walls without tools and can be positioned at 5-cm intervals. They can be added, removed, or moved at any time. The weight capacity per shelf is 154 kg (MAXI version).
